In 1989, thunderstorms soaked Kansas City with 4.16
inches of rain to set a record for July 15th. Of this
total, 2.5 inches were measured in 1 hour between noon

almost double that of the record rainfall at Wichita for
this date of 2.26 inches set in 1959.
